        Water Quality Monitoring

Three images of streams in Nevada

The Bureau of Water Quality Planning (BWQP) is responsible for monitoring the chemical and biological health of surface water throughout the state and management of the surface water quality and biological data. These data are used to support other BWQP water quality management programs for example, expanding water quality standard coverage, TMDL development and monitoring, and assessment requirements for 303(d)/305(b) reports.

The overall quality policy of NDEP and BWQP is to ensure activities are conducted according to adequate quality management principles and practices, and to provide a reasonable assurance that environmental data generated are of sufficient quality and quantity for the intended use.

The Nevada Quality Assurance Program Plan (QAPrP) for Surface Water Sampling establishes specific quality requirements for the collection and management of surface water quality data.
